LIMESTONE – Wilmont N. “Shorty” Nason, 84, husband of the late Theresa (Flewelling) Nason, went home to be with his Lord Saturday evening, June 9, 2007, at a Bangor health care facility, after a brief illness. He was born May 12, 1923, in Monticello, the son of Merritt L. and Sadie (Stackhouse) Nason. Wilmont attended Monticello and Houlton schools and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was married to Theresa Flewelling Jan. 11, 1944, and was employed as an electrician for the U.S. Civil Service at the former Loring Air Force Base, Limestone, retiring in 1981, after 30 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Civil Service Retiree Group, served on the Limestone School Board, was a devoted member of the Gideon’s International and the Limestone Assembly of God, where he served as a board member and deacon. In addition to his parents, Mr. Nason was predeceased by his wife of almost 61 years, Theresa Nason, Dec. 11, 2005; one brother, Raymond Nason; two sisters, Madeline Moulton and Barbara Trader. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney E. and Janice Nason of Limestone and Wilmont G. “Bill” and Janet Nason of Yukon, Okla.; one daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Carl Pelkey of Limestone; two sisters, Jessie Tarr of Houlton and Muriel Durost and her husband, Arnold, of Presque Isle; seven grandchildren, Ralph Pelkey and his wife, Kelly, of Berwick, Walter Pelkey and his wife, Holly, of Portland, Terri Beth Pelkey of Gautier, Miss., Kerri Foster and her husband, David, of Augusta, Vicki Nason of Merrimac, N.H., Nicole Morris and her husband, David, of Waxahachie, Texas, Tiffany Prentice and her husband, Timothy, of Yukon, Okla.; six great-grand-children, Jessica and Kenny Foster of Augusta, Samantha and Megan Pelkey of Berwick, Ella Morris of Waxahachie, Texas, and expected great-grandson, Gabe Prentice; several nieces and nephew. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at the Limestone Assembly of God, 14 Church St., Limestone. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, at the Limestone Assembly of God with the Rev. Robert Amuzzini, the Rev. Roger Jewell and the Rev. Merritt Durost officiating. Interment will be immediately after at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Caribou. A time of fellowship with refreshments will be held at the Limestone Assembly of God immediately after the interment service.
