ORRINGTON – Winifred “Winnie” Nowell, 70, wife of the late Arthur A. Nowell, died July 14, 2004, at her Orrington home, surrounded by her family. She was born Jan. 2, 1934, in Bangor, the daughter of Herbert and Lucille (Harris) Sawyer. Winnie and her husband, Arthur, enjoyed camping with special friends, Fred and Phyllis Malone at Jo Mary Lake for many years. She also enjoyed her home for 43 years and taking care of her family. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Paula and Victor Dorr, and their children, Joshua and Jesse, all of Holden; Brenda and Donald Kenney, and their son, Eric, all of Orrington; one stepson and his wife, Anthony and Linda Nowell of Brewer; one special brother and his wife, Donald and Judy Sawyer of Orrington; one sister and her husband, Nellie and Tex Smallwood of Lubbock, Texas; she was also Aunt Winnie to six nieces and nephews; and long time special friends, Helen Bean and Mary Pierce. The family would like to thank New Hope Hospice and Dr. Lauer for their special care and understanding. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Sawyer; sister-in-law, Pat; and niece, Winnie. The family invites relatives and friends to gather at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 17, at Marston Cemetery, Orrington, with the Rev. Gertrude Stone, Chaplain of New Hope Hospice, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at Winnie’s home, 424 Dow Road, Orrington, following the interment.
