PENOBSCOT – Winona Bernice (Muncey) Nute, 76, peacefully went to be with the Lord Dec. 16, 2006, at a Blue Hill hospital, after a long illness. She was born July 4, 1930, in Danforth, daughter of Eugene W. and Marion E. (Kinney) Muncey. She married John W. Nute in 1952, traveled the world due to his military service and they built their home in Penobscot in 1973. Mrs. Nute was an exceptional mother, a beautiful, elegant and quiet lady, who handled all things with grace, even her painful last years. She is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth and her husband, Scott Snedden, of Augusta, Pamela and her husband, James Dumont, of Erie, Pa., and Cynthia and her husband, Peter Wailus Jr., of Penobscot; six grandchildren, Shawn Snedden, Heidi Witham, Justin Dumont, Melissa Nute, Timothy Hunt and Charles Hunt; six great-grandchildren; four siblings, Floyd Muncey of Danforth, Charles Muncey of Houlton, Connie and her husband, Jack McEwen, of Danforth and Deanna and her husband, Fred Lowe, of Danforth; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John W. Nute in 1996; three sisters, Opal, Muriel and Donna. Visitation for family and friends will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor James Dumont officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wiscasset.
