GUILFORD – Winton E. Cobb, 92, husband of the late Evelyn (Cham-berlain) Cobb, died May 11, 2005, at his home in Guilford. He was born May 28, 1912, in Guilford, the son of Fred E. and Eva (Hanson) Cobb. He was a life member of the Mount Kineo Lodge No. 109 AF & AM and a member of the American Legion Post No. 119, both in Guilford. He played semi-pro baseball for several years. Winton entered the armed service in 1943, serving for 30 months, 23 of which were in the European Theater. He was awarded the European Theater Ribbon with five battle stars, the Good Conduct Medal, Victory medal, the Bronze Arrowhead for participating in the invasion of France on D-Day, and a unit citation. Before entering the service he was employed by National Biscuit Company of Bangor. Upon returning home from the war he was employed by Draper Corp. of Bangor, and later worked in construction. He leaves several cousins. A graveside memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2005, at the Lawn Cemetery in Guilford with the Rev. Dan Bollen officiating.
