SHERMAN MILLS – Yale E. Stevens, 59, died Aug. 14, 2005, at his residence. He was born Oct. 26, 1945, at Island Falls, the son of Maitland J. and Helen (MacKenzie) Stevens. Yale attended Island Falls Schools, was graduate of Island Falls High School, Class of 1964, and N.M.V.T.I., Class of 1966. He was a skilled building contractor for 40 years. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including canoeing, camping, hiking, white water rafting and skiing. He also enjoyed photographing wildlife, gardening, feeding birds and squirrels on his deck and helping anyone in need. He could fix anything, anywhere – the ultimate do-it yourself man. He was a dedicated husband and father who enjoyed his grandchildren and shared his love of learning. Yale will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and his wife of 34 years, Linda (Ambrose) Stevens. He is survived by two daughters, Cindy Drew and her husband, Keith, Cheryl Anderson and her husband, Steve, all of Patten; five grandchildren, Lucas and Kate Anderson, Cooper, Nikolas and Lindsay Drew, all of Patten; his sister, Priscilla Young and her husband, Warren E., of Bradley; his brother, Maitland Stevens and his wife, Annette, of Crystal; his mother-in-law, Hilma Ambrose of Patten; sister-in-law, Carole McLellan and her husband, Bertrand, of Naples and Delray Beach, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a special friend, Nancy Wiles, in 2005. Friends may call 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service at 11, at the Washburn Memorial Church, Sherman Mills.
