MILLINOCKET – Zola May Pelkey, 73, died Friday, April 25, 2008, at a Millinocket health care facility. She was born Oct. 8, 1934, in Millinocket, the daughter of J. Ozime and Christie (Thibodeau) Tardy. Zola was a life long communicant of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Millinocket. She is survived by nine children, Michael Pelkey of California, Patrick Pelkey and his wife, Lynn, of North Carolina, Rose Legassey and her husband, Barry, of Millinocket, Juli Ratcliffe of Colorado, Ruth Martin and her husband, Gene, of Virginia, Thomas Pelkey and his wife, Sandra, of Colorado, Mark Pelkey and his wife, Faye, of Millinocket, Mary Pelkey of New Hampshire and Scott Pelkey and his wife, Cindy, of Orono; a brother, Glenn Tardy and his wife, Claudette, of Millinocket; two sisters-in-law, Doris Pelkey of Delaware and Marian Pelkey of Maryland; 19 grandchildren, Michael Pelkey II, Glen Pelkey, Jason Pelkey and his wife, Virginia, Cameron Pelkey, Rebecca Davis and her husband, Don, Stephanie and her husband, Kevin Lytle, Kevin Pelkey, Daniel Ratcliff, Zachary Ratcliffe, Jarred and Rachael Martin, Timothy Martin, Benjamin Martin, Olivia Demetreas and her husband, Chris, Devin Pelkey, Spencer Pelkey, Lily Pelkey-Jacobsen, Maria Pelkey and John Pelkey; nine great-grand-children, Leanna Pelkey, Tyler Feehan, Michael Pelkey III, Xander Pelkey, Catherine Pelkey, Althea Pelkey, Jessinia Pel-key, Benjamin Lytle and Rheahana Demetreas; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Zola will also be missed by a special cousin and “sister,” Trudy “Gert” Rutherford. In addition to her parents, Zola was predeceased by her husband of nearly 50 years, John “Jack” Pelkey in 2004. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Monday at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 112 Maine Ave., Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider. Sp-ring interment will be at Millinocket Cemetery.
