MILLINOCKET – Emma Eldora Elkins, 82, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, died Sept. 24, 2008, after a brief illness, with her family in attendance. Emma was born Jan. 27, 1926, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Harry G. and Arlene M. Butler. She married the love of her life, Sherman M. Elkins Sr., Aug. 14, 1942. Emma loved the outdoors and everything about nature. She enjoyed camping, bird watching and her rides with Sherman to see the moose and deer that are abundant in the state of Maine. She instilled her love of nature into the hearts of her children and grandchildren. For many years, Emma was employed at Snowflake Canning Co., Corinna. She had many fond memories of her work experience and her coworkers. Emma is survived by her husband of 66 years, Sherman; her son, Harry Elkins and his love, Karen Beale, of Coco, Fla.; her daughter, Debra Wilkins and her husband, David, of Crystal; her daughter-in-law, Letha Elkins of Fort Fairfield; grandchildren, Betty Elkins of Detroit, Angela Elkins of Pittsfield, Catherine Ramee and her husband, David, of Troy, Patricia Green and her husband, Dan, of Worcester, Mass., Robert Paris and his wife, Monique, of Alfred, Mark Elkins of Fort Fairfield, Rye Elkins of Albuquerque, N.M., Caitlin Elkins of Bangor, Bria Bourque and her husband, Brad, of Sanford, Megan Dubois and her husband, Shawn, of Windham and Devon Wilkins and his love, Elyse Pomeroy, of Portland. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Christina, Ricky, Justin and Joseph Elston, Amanda and Scott Sally, Corey Cayford and Alexis Ramee and Anna Bourque; her sister, Marilyn Carr of Dover; brother-in-law, Philip Elkins and his wife, Bell, of Pittsfield, Floyd Elkins and his wife, Betty, of College Park, Md.; sister-in-law, Carolyn Preble of East Corinth; two special nieces, Jane Bonenfant of Ellsworth and Arlene Nelson of Bangor; and special friends, David and Nancy Streams of Millinocket. Emma was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Derwood, Philip, Roland, Carl and Lewis; her sisters, Laura Fogg and Beatrice “Bunny” Day; and sons, Sherman Jr., Randolph and Kevin. Graveside memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Pittsfield Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield.
