MCI 44, Mount View 14

At Pittsfield, Nick Miller rushed 16 times for 153 yards and scored two touchdowns as Maine Central Institute routed Mount View of Thorndike.

Tyler Maloon scored touch-downs on an 85-yard kick off return and a 30-yard run for the Huskies. Brandon Wilson completed three of eight passes for 28 yards, including a 5-yard TD pass to Nick Cook in the third quarter.

Mike Lynch added an eight-yard scoring run in the fourth. He totaled eight carries for 44 yards.

Tyson Hunt had an interception and a fumble recovery for MCI. Cook also had an interception. Marcus White led the defense with nine tackles.

Aaron Santana completed two touchdown passes to Tyler Rednour, one for 55 yards and another for 40 yards, to lead Mount View. Santana completed eight of 16 passes for 158 yards.

MCI totaled 300 yards rushing and 28 passing while Mount View had 21 yards rushing and 158 passing.

Calais-Woodland 12, Stearns 0

At Millinocket, Eric Henry threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Ross for the go-ahead touchdown with 4:31 left in the fourth quarter as the first-year Silverados picked up their second straight LTC Class C football victory.

The touchdown pass capped off a 17-play, 92-yard drive that began on the final play of the third quarter.

Senior fullback Blake Ford added an insurance touchdown on the first play of Calais-Woodland’s next possession, breaking through the line and racing down the sideline 71 yards to the end zone.

Ford led 2-2 Calais with 195 rushing yards on 26 carries, while sophomore Cam Shorey added 71 yards on 16 attempts as Calais outgained previously unbeaten Stearns 369-118 in total offense.

Greg Jackson had two interceptions and brothers Cam Shorey and Cal Shorey each had a quarterback sack to spark the Calais-Woodland offense along with linebackers Ford and Eddie Flaherty. The Silverados’ Joe Martorano also recovered a fumbled Stearns kickoff return.

Kurt Hamilton rushed nine times for 39 yards for 3-1 Stearns.

Boys soccer

Central 2, Hermon 1

At Corinth, Jacob Speed scored a goal and assisted on the other as Central defeated Hermon.

Matt Kelley scored with 14:48 left in the second half to give Central a 2-0 lead. Patrick Byers assisted Speed’s goal. Cole Haskell turned away 18 of 26 shots for the 5-2-2 Red Devils.

Jesse Graffam scored with 8:22 remaining in regulation for 1-8 Hermon. Cory Johnson and Jeremy McIntyre combined for 13 saves on 23 shots.

JV: Hermon 13-0

John Bapst 4, MDI 3

At Bar Harbor, Jordan Meyers snapped a 2-2 tie by converting a 30-yard free kick with 23 minutes remaining in regulation and Jason McBurnie added an insurance goal seven minutes later as John Bapst up-ended Mount Desert Island.

Max Cutri and Andrew Casey staked the 4-3-1 Crusaders to a 2-0 lead in the first half but Ben Steel scored off an Abe Gladstone assist and Gladstone tied it off a Connor Records pass later in the first half.

Gladstone scored off a free kick with two minutes left in regulation but the 4-3-1 Trojans couldn’t get the equalizer.

Casey Hull made three saves on eight shots for John Bapst while Ben Cummings made seven stops on 14 shots for MDI.

JV: 1-1

Katahdin 4, Lee Academy 2

At Lee, Ethan Qualey’s second goal of the game, coming with eight minutes remaining, gave Katahdin a valuable insurance goal as the Cougars improved to 10-0.

Marshall Davis had a goal and two assists for the winners and Kolby Gallagher had the other goal. Matt Tarr made nine saves on 16 shots.

Dean MacDonald and Ocean Oh scored for the 1-4-1 Pandas and A.J. Harris made 14 saves on 22 shots.

Piscataquis 2, Schenck 1

At East Millinocket, Kyle Stevens scored an unassisted goal with 2:29 left in regulation to break the 1-1 tie and give Piscataquis of Guilford the win over Schenck.

Brian Hackett scored a first-half goal off a Damien Bridge assist for 4-3-2 Piscataquis. Corbin Shufelt stopped 10 of 26 shots.

Chris Ouellette scored in the first half with an assist from Devin Dickey. Ryan Thompson turned away 24 of 37 shots for 1-7-1 Schenck.

Dexter 3, Foxcroft 0

At Dover-Foxcroft, Lee Gustin, Ryan Wilks and Devon Grant scored to give Dexter the win over Foxcroft Academy.

Tor Anderson provided an assist for Dexter. Nathan Wyman stopped all five shots.

Alex Gray saved eight of 11 shots for Foxcroft Academy.

Woodland 7, Jonesport-Beals 2

At Woodland, Chad James scored four goals and assisted another as Woodland defeated Jonesport-Beals.

Scott Boomer added two goals for 6-3 Woodland. Brad Arthurs had a goal and an assist and Ben Sears provided three assists. Tom Putnam and Charles Tomah each had an assist. Ryan Lincoln saved eight of 10 shots.

Freshman Matt Alley scored both goals for 0-8 Jonesport-Beals. Terrell Carver provided an assist as Cody Thistlewood made 18 saves on 25 shots.

Bucksport 4, George Stevens 1

At Bucksport, Jordan Trasko scored two goals and assisted another to help push Bucksport past George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill.

Dom Kone and Jon Grindle each had a goal and an assist for the 3-5-1 Golden Bucks. Mitchell Marks provided an assist as Joe Goodin turned away six of 12 shots.

Ben Plohr scored an unassisted goal in the first half for 3-5-1 George Stevens. Josh Gale stopped 13 of 24 shots.

Bangor 1, Messalonskee 1

At Bangor, Nick George’s unassisted goal midway through the second half tied the game for Bangor, but neither team could put the ball in the net for the next 30 minutes and had to settle for a tie.

Matt Ouellette scored the goal for the Messalonskee Eagles of Oakland with 32:11 left in the first half.

The tie was the first for both teams this season as Bangor is 7-0-1 and Messalonskee is 6-1-1.

Alan Reese made four saves on seven shots for the Rams and Andrew Wilson saved 12 of 25 for the Eagles.

Girls soccer

DI-Stonington 4, Narraguagus 1

At Deer Isle, four different players scored as Deer Isle-Stonington beat Narraguagus of Harrington.

Holly Brewer, Erika Hutchins, Meaghan Robinson and Janelle Ciomei scored for the 2-3-2 Mariners. Esther Adams provided two assists. Anika Powers stopped 10 of 18 shots.

Samantha Baker scored off a Kristina Bailey assist early in the second half for 0-6-1 Narraguagus. Baker made 18 saves on 27 shots.

Penobscot Valley 3, Penquis 0

At Howland, Molly Thompson, Leslie Theriault and Alysa Whitten scored goals to lead Penobscot Valley to victory over Penquis of Milo.

Casey McCloskey stopped 12 of 16 shots for 5-2-1 Penobscot Valley.

Erica Lyford saved 20 of 32 shots for 1-7-1 Penquis.

College Field Hockey

Southern Maine 5, UNE 2

At Biddeford, India Lowe and Caitlin Albert scored two goals apiece to lead the University of Southern Maine to the win.

Albert also had an assist while Heidi Swett added a goal and Brianna Beisaw two assists for the 4-4 Huskies. Allison Hill had eight saves and Lyndsey Cronin six.

Nicole Mace and Cassandra Bushey scored for 2-4 U New England. Ayla Nelson made eight saves.

High School Field hockey

Camden Hills 3, Nokomis 3

At Rockport, Camden Hills’ Sarah Nason and Nokomis of Newport’s Maria Adams didn’t allow a goal during two over-times as the game ended tied.

Maci Heal tied it at 3-3 with 4:07 left in regulation for 2-5-1 Camden Hills. Monica Doucette had a goal and an assist and Hillary Gordon added a goal. Katie Weiler assisted Doucette’s goal while Nason stopped seven of 10 shots.

Sabrina Vaillancourt scored two goals for the 7-1-2 Warriors. Jordan McGinnis also had a goal. Adams turned away nine of 12 shots.

Old Town 2, Foxcroft 1

At Old Town, Sarah Wilcox scored the winning goal with 11:00 left in regulation off a Kayla DuPont assist to lead Old Town past Foxcroft Academy.

Lindsay St. Louis scored in the first half with an assist from Wilcox for 4-2-1 Old Town. Heather Nye and Danyle Boobar combined for 11 saves on 12 shots.

Sabrina Sharrow scored off a Kelsey Boss assist in the first half for 7-2 Foxcroft Academy. Cassie Curtis stopped five of seven shots.

JV: Foxcroft 3-0

MA Lynx 2, Piscataquis 1 (2OT)

At Lincoln, Brooke Hanscom scored the winner off a Kamryn Knott assist with 3:27 left in the second overtime to lift Mattanawcook Academy over Piscataquis at Guilford.

Knott scored in the second half with an assist from Alexa Olsen for the 4-5 Lynx. Colleen Albert made 15 saves on 18 shots.

Salina Kain scored an unassisted goal with 4:18 remaining in regulation for 0-8 Piscataquis. Brianna Tweedie turned away 12 of 15 shots.

Men’s soccer

Husson 1, Lyndon State 0

At Lyndon Center, Vt., Jeff Truchon scored at 5:49 in the first half off a Mark Trombley assist to give Husson College the win over Lyndon State College Saturday.

Miguel Dominguez made one save on two shots for the Eagles.

Jeff Giroux turned away 11 of 25 shots for the Hornets.

Women’s soccer

Husson 5, Lyndon State 0

At Lyndon Center, Vt., Megan LaJoie scored two goals as Husson College shut out Lyndon State College Saturday.

Shelby Bradford had a goal and an assist for the 8-2 Eagles. Katie Nickerson and Lindsay Howard added goals. Tatyana Wolterbeek stopped all five shots.

Natalia Shams made six saves on 34 shots for the 4-4 Lady Hornets.
