PHYLLIS R. GATCOMB

STETSON – Phyllis R. Gatcomb, 82, died Oct. 3, 2008, at a Bangor hospital after a long illness. She was born Aug. 27, 1926, in Corinna, the daughter of Lester A. and Beatrice C. (Reed) Townsend. She was educated in Stetson and Exeter schools. She was married to George F. Gatcomb, who died Oct. 10, 1999. Phyllis enjoyed long rides to view the countryside. She enjoyed playing cards and board games. She is survived by three sons, George Gatcomb Jr. of Warren, Douglas Gatcomb of Bradford and John Gatcomb and his wife, Carole, of Corinth; two daughters, Donna and her husband, Robert Wakem, of Springfield, Mass., and Priscilla Hichborn of Corinth; one sister, Lois Reed of Carmel; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, George; her daughter, Linda Hamilton; one brother and six sisters. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Clarks Hill Cemetery, Stetson, with Pastor Donald Booker officiating.
