PETER M. BUERGER, M.D.

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Peter M. Buerger, M.D., 46, husband of Barbara A. (Cassano) Buerger, died Oct. 7, 2008, at a local hospital. He was born Aug. 10, 1962, in Lockport, N.Y., the son of Paul T. and Jean Mae (Helmke) Buerger. Peter had served 15 years with the U.S. Air Force in Japan and Germany. He had been associated with Mayo Regional Hospital as a surgeon for the past nine years. A member of Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church, Peter was a member of the choir and had served as deacon. He was an avid fly fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. of Dover-Foxcroft; his parents, originally from Buffalo, N.Y.; a son, Caleb M.; and a daughter, Katherine N., both of Dover-Foxcroft; three brothers, Paul of New York, James of Pennsylvania and John of New York; and three sisters, Christina Sokal of North Carolina, Sharon Hewner of New York and Mary Cranford of North Carolina. A funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church, with the Rev. Heather Kurtz officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Dover Cemetery.
