TOPSFIELD, Mass. – Mr. Charles Herbert Blunt, 79, husband of Glenda (Akeley) Blunt, died Friday evening, Oct. 10, 2008, at Beverly Hospital. Born in Fort Fairfield, son of the late William and Maxa (Griffin) Blunt, he was raised and educated in Maine. Charles was proud of his service to the town of Topsfield, Mass., where he served as a member of the volunteer fire department for more than 20 years, retiring as deputy chief. In addition to his wife of 61 years, Charles is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Diane Blunt of Georgetown, Mass.; three grandchildren, Joshua, William and Elise; and a brother, Bion Blunt of Virginia Beach, Va. He was also father of the late Susan Blunt. His funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pine Grove Cemetery, Topsfield, Mass. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., Route 62, Danvers, Mass. For more information, please contact the funeral home.
