GEORGIA M. FOWLIE – BANGOR – Georgia M. (McLaughlin) Fowlie, 93, wife of the late James H. Fowlie, passed away Oct. 13, 2008, at the home of her daughter. She was born Sept. 11, 1915, in Bangor, the daughter of Benjamin B. and Olie M. (Smith) Leighton. Both of her parents died when she was a small girl. She was adopted by Roscoe W. and Elsie M. (Smith) McLaughlin of Levant. She grew up and attended South Levant School. From the time that she was a little girl, she attended church. Wherever she lived, Levant, Hermon, Union, Rumford, California and Bangor, she was active in those churches. She was part of the different church ladies groups, held several offices in those churches, and was always ready to lend a hand with the church fairs and suppers. She was also active in the grange at different points in her life. During the war, she enrolled in a nurses aide program and for more than 30 years worked as a nurses aide. She was predeceased by her husband, James H. Fowlie. She is survived by her children, Helen V. Page and Sybl Acree of Riverside, Calif., Henry H. Page Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Newtown Square, Pa., Allen R. Page and Gary Thornburg, of Virginia Beach, Va., James A. Burns and his wife, Marilyn, of Union, William R. Fowlie and his wife, Maria (Tony), of Maumee, Ohio, and Cynthia A. Wruck and her husband, Karl-Heinz, of Bangor; her grandchildren, Chere, Hank, Chris, Gina, Glen, Laura, Shelly, Jimmy, Debbie, Nadia, Jenn, Earl and Andreas; her great-grandchildren, Paige, Michael, Michael, Michelle, Kate, Emily, Amy, Whitney, Ashley, Earl IV, Coleman and Saydee; one sister, Ellen B. Stewart of Orrington; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, with the Rev. Fred Dickinson officiating. Committal will be held after the service at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor.
