BAR HARBOR, Maine — A former Bangor man probably should have checked to see which groups hold meetings at the Atlantic Oakes before he took a full-time job at the popular motel and conference center.
Christopher Loseby, 26, of Bar Harbor was arrested Monday on outstanding warrants after a Penobscot County assistant district attorney apparently recognized him during the annual prosecutors meeting being held this week.
Loseby was charged with failure to pay fines and failure to report to probation after his release in June from the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor.
Bangor District Court Judge Jesse Gunther set bail at $500 cash over Loseby’s objections. He remained in jail unable to make bail Wednesday night.
Loseby pleaded guilty in May and served 30 days in jail for assaulting his girlfriend two months earlier. He also was ordered to pay fines totaling $420 and to report to a probation officer on his release.
He did neither. Loseby moved to Bar Harbor and began working at Atlantic Oakes shortly after his release.
Warrants were issued this summer for his arrest but he remained under the radar of local authorities until Monday when prosecutors convened their annual meeting.
Loseby told the judge that he could only raise $200 cash bail because he had been fired Monday when his criminal status was revealed to his employer.
