MARIE D. FLANDERS

CORINNA – Marie Flanders, 80, died Oct. 31, 2008, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor, with the love of her children surrounding her. She was born March 24, 1928, in Ashland, a daughter of Michael and Melvina (Theriault) Dubay. Marie married the love of her life, Hubert L. Flanders, June 29, 1946. He predeceased her Nov. 9, 2005. She had been employed at Snowflake Canning Co. until it burned, Eastland Woolen Mill, Nokomis Regional High and retired from Dexter Shoe Co., in 1992. She attended Corinna United Methodist Church and was a member of Corinna Post American Legion Auxiliary. Marie spent her life caring for her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time at camp in the summer months and holidays with her family. In addition to her husband, Marie was predeceased by five sisters, seven brothers; and a very special granddaughter, Emilie. She is survived by her four children, Susan and husband, Eddie York, of Clinton, Sally Flanders of Texas, Dana and wife, Valarie Flanders, of Plymouth and Amy and husband, Gary Fitch, of Jay; seven grandchildren, Kevin York and special friend, Amanda Hunnewell, Sarah and husband, Jeremy Viles, Ben Wintle and special friend, Shawn Johnson, Amanda and special friend, Nicholas Wark, Beth Flanders, Dustin Hargreaves and Kayla Fitch; three brothers, Freeman of Ashland, Omer and wife, Pauline, of Bristol, Conn., and Allen and wife, Sheila, of Bangor; many nieces, nephews and special friends at Sunshine Village. The joy in Marie’s last days was brought to her through the compassion and care of the Maine Veterans’ staff and her family. Private visitation will be held at Crosby & Neal Chapel, Corinna. A graveside funeral and committal service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Morses Corner Cemetery, Corinna, with Pastor Grace Mazhandu, of Corinna United Methodist Church, officiating with assistance by the Rev. Sharon Lovejoy. There will be a time to share memories with the family immediately after the service at Corinna United Methodist Church with luncheon provided.
