GARLAND – Cipriano V. “Skip” Zerquera, 50, passed away Oct. 31, 2008, at his home. He was born and raised in Boston, the son of Cipriano H. and Sahara (Navarro) Zerquera. He and his wife moved to Maine in 1988, and Skip worked for a number of years as the accounts receivable manger at Holiday Inn By the Bay, Portland. Skip was an active member of Safari Club International and Big Pine Gun Club of Willimantic. He was past president of Eastern Maine Beagle Club and an active member of both the National Rifle Association and the National Rifle Association-Institute for Legislative Action. Skip was an advocate for gun ownership and hunters’ rights. He loved beagling, hunting and shooting sports. He is survived by his wife, Christine (Czap) Zerquera of Garland; sister, Tina; brothers, Alex and George, all of Massachusetts; many aunts and uncles in Florida. He will be missed by his lifelong friends, John and Kevin, as their friendship started in grade school; Gene Robinson; and members of the gun club and beagle club. A private graveside service will be held in Massachusetts at a later date. Those considering an expression of sympathy may make memorial donations to a cause near to Skip’s heart; he was passionate about caring for Beagles. Please make donations to Beagles Of New England States, BONES, P.O. Box 87, Kenduskeag, ME 04450. Arrangements are entrusted to Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield, ME 04967.
