HERMON – Allen Ansel Quimby, 66, died Nov. 4, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Feb. 13, 1942, in Bangor, the son of Roy L. and Blanche L. (McLean) Quimby. He attended Bangor schools, Beal Business College and then served in the U.S. Army. Allen was employed in the paint shop at Eastern Maine Medical Center for 29 years, retiring in 2004. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing. Allen was a member of National Humane Society, National Wild Life Federation, Eagles Club, Bangor Lodge of Elks and American Legion Post No. 200 of Hermon. Allen was a very special brother and a good friend to all who knew him, and he was especially loved by his many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed. Surviving are a sister, Beverly A. Sargent of Corinth; a brother, Lynwood G. Quimby of Glenburn; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; his three beloved cats, Trouble, Garfield and Stray; and his dog, Buster. Relatives and friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, with the Rev. Dr. Rex. H. Garrett, director of chaplaincy services, Eastern Maine Medical Center, officiating. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Bangor.
