AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine’s secretary of state has received a request for a fifth ballot recount from last Tuesday’s elections.
The secretary of state’s office announced Monday that incumbent Oxford County Register of Probate Tom Winsor, a Republican, had requested a recount. Unofficial preliminary results indicated Democratic challenger Bruce Wood was the winner by a vote of 15,130 to 14,778.
Three other recount requests have been received in state Senate races, with the fourth request for a county-level race in Oxford County.
Candidates have until the end of Wednesday to submit an official recount request.
