LA HABRA, Calif. – Loretta (Madore) Parent died June 16, 2008, at home, with her husband, Raymond; and daughter, Doris, at her bedside. She was born April 13, 1921, in Van Buren, the daughter of Antoine Madore and Sarah (Levesque) Madore. Loretta graduated June 19, 1940, from Sacred Heart High School, Van Buren. In 1941, she went to work at Eagle Lake Hospital, and in 1942, moved to South Portland to live with her fiance, Raymond’s family, while he was overseas in the South Pacific with the Marine paratroopers. She was employed at South Portland Shipyard until November 1944. On Jan. 26, 1945, her fiance was medically discharged from the Marine Corps after being wounded Jan. 1, 1944. On Feb. 8, 1945, they married at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, South Portland, by Father Coyne, and in June 1950, they moved to California. She is survived be her husband of 63 years, Raymond; three daughters, Irene and husband, Corr Bowman, of Chimaeum, Wash., Linda Briggs of Otto, N.C., and Doris and her husband, Glen Harker, of El Segundo, Calif.; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Raymond; brothers, Joseph, Lionel, Gerald, Irenee and Everett Madore; sisters, Irene St. Pierre, Rosalie Cyr, and Sister Prisca Cecile Madore S.C.I.M. A rosary was said 6 p.m. June 19 at Mortuary Chapel Holy Cross. A funeral Mass was celebrated noon June 20 at Holy Cross Mausoleum Chapel by Father Douglas Glassmas and homily; eulogy by daughter, Irene Bowman; funeral counselor, Elizabeth Barbosa; family counselors, Jill Carter and Frances Raugh; family service adviser, Russell Candela; floral designer, Damseate; organist, Polly Schafener; soloist, Olimpa Lucente; family support coordinator, Sister Sarah Jordan C.S.J; and religion coordinator, Sister Angela Flavin R.S.C. Entombment was at Holy Cross Mausoleum, crypt no. B28-E1 near the chapel, with crypt no. B28-E2 reserved for her husband, Raymond. Arrangements by Holy Cross Mortuary and Mausoleum Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
