CLINTON – Geraldine “Gerry” Fitzpatrick Albert passed away peacefully Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, surrounded by her family at Maine Medical Center, Portland, after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Mildred (McIver) Fitzpatrick of Houlton. She was born in Woodstock, New Brunswick, while visiting her father’s parents. Gerry attended Littleton schools and graduated from Houlton High School in 1941 and from beauty school in 1943. She had been employed in beauty salons in Houlton, Manchester, N.H., Portland and Waterville. Gerry opened her salon on Main Street, Clinton, in May 1956, and had operated there for 52 years. In 2006, she celebrated a 50-year open house with many customers and family attending. She was president of Waterville Hairdressers Association, 1956-1958; president of Maine State Cosmetologists Association; and represented the state at National Conventions in Minnesota, Ohio, Nevada, Missouri and Hawaii. Gerry was a Eucharistic minister at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Fairfield, and a member of Clinton Historical Society. She enjoyed oil painting, cookbooks, cooking and meeting with her many customers. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Albert, in 1985, after sharing 38 years together; and her three brothers, Charles, Philip and Neil Fitzpatrick. Gerry will be sadly missed by her daughter, Nancy and husband, Brian, of Burnham; her son, Keith and wife, Debbie, of Limerick; two granddaughters, Tracy Porell and husband, Tracy, of Kennebunk, and Hillary Whitney and husband, Brian, of Burnham; one great-grandson, Dillon Whitney of Burnham; her sister, Ruth Ann Swanson and husband, Ted, of Unity; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Fitzpatrick of Lewiston and Doris Stover of Houlton; special friend and coworker, Kathi Giroux; and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 107 Main St., Fairfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Fairfield. Private burial will be at Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
