DEXTER – Martha C. Titus, 88, passed away Nov. 10, 2008, at Dexter Health Care. She was born Feb. 22, 1920, in Estcourt, Canada, a daughter of Homer and Anne (Beaulieu) Nadeau. In 1939, she met Russell B. Titus through the N.Y.A. They were married Feb. 22, 1941, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church by Father Enright. Together she and Russ raised three children. Two of Martha’s favorite places to work were Abbott’s Mill and Reny’s department store. She was the entertainer of the family and loved to play her organ and harmonica for friends and family. Her legacy to all of us was her giving heart. She spent countless hours volunteering for the community and touched many lives with her love for others. Martha was a faithful communicant of St. Anne’s Church. She is survived by her husband of Dexter; children, Patricia and husband, Ron Farrar, and their children, Matthew and Jonathan, Robert and wife, Margo Titus, of Dexter and their children, Tiffany, Aaron, Megan and Morgan, and Sharon “Sherry” and husband, Ray Barnes, of Skowhegan and their children, Jeannine, Eric and Kelly; a sister, Geneva LaFountain of Dexter; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special friends, Gary and Jeanie Giles. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Wilfred, Levi, Alcide, Henry, William, Joseph and Oscar; and sisters, Lena, Emelda, Anne, Rose and Lesa. The family thanks Dr. Robert Lodato for his compassion and care for Martha in her time of need as well as her caregivers at Dexter Health Care. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Dexter, with the Rev. Father Mark Nolette officiating. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dexter Sunshine Club, care of Nancy Baldwin, 59 Acadia St., Dexter, ME 04930.
