LEVANT and BREWER – Eleanor “Ellie” L. Eldridge, 78, lost her battle with cancer Nov. 12, 2008, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born March 11, 1931, in Bangor, the daughter of Walden W. and Daphne (Nason) Lawson. Ellie worked at several jobs during her life, but her main job was to do what she could to help others. She was a friend to many and loved by all who knew her. Ellie loved to play bingo and cards, and really enjoyed cooking and being a host for a house full of company. She dedicated her life to her family and was always there to help in any way she could. She is survived by her children, Gerald Eldridge and companion, Sharon Bickford, of Dedham, Jennifer Boilard and husband, Marc, of Lisbon, Vicki Schnarrs and husband, Kenny, of Biloxi, Miss., Robert Eldridge and wife, Lisa, of Madeira Beach, Fla., Christina Cammack of Mattawamkeag and Roger Eldridge of Levant; three brothers, Walden Lawson of Bangor, Richard Lawson and companion, Francis, of Bangor and Gregory Lawson and wife, Vivian, of Plymouth; two sisters, Christina Read and husband, Berned, of Old Town and Marguerite Travis and husband, William, of Brewer; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grand-children, many nieces and nephews. Ellie was predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Roland Eldridge in 2005; and two brothers, Emery and Russell. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, with the Rev. Clayton Blackstone, pastor of Advent Christian Church, Bangor, officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at Brookings-Smith Reception Rooms, 55 South Main St., Brewer, after the interment.
