HANCOCK – Beth A. Snyder, 57, passed away Nov. 15, 2008, at her home. She was born Aug. 25, 1951, at Nichols Farm Maternity Home, Harrington. She was the daughter of Robert M. and Marcia Sargent of Steuben. She grew up in Steuben, where she was active in the 4-H Club. She attended Sumner Memorial High School, where she was active in drama and junior speaking, and graduated in 1968. During her first marriage to Darryl Dorr of Harrington, she lived for two years in Anchorage, Alaska. She then returned to Maine and worked for many years in the banking sector for several firms, most recently Key Bank. From age 7, Beth struggled bravely with diabetes and the complications of this illness. Her courage in the face of adversity has inspired all who have known her. Though she was increasingly limited by the effects of diabetes, she was still able to enjoy the comforts of home, her husband, Richard, and other family, her beloved pets and many, many friends. She enjoyed reading, especially suspense and mystery novels, watching Jeopardy!, dancing, Jaguars and other classic cars, flower gardens and the company of friends. Beth is survived by her husband, Richard “Duke” Snyder; her parents, Robert and Marcia Sargent of Steuben; her bro-ther, Gary of Clear Lake, Calif; brother, Cole of Dedham;as well as many cousins, nephews and nieces.
