SAINT ALBANS – Garry L. McKinney, 69, went home to meet the Lord Nov. 14, 2008. He was born Feb. 20, 1939, in Shickshinny, Pa., a son of Ralph and Elsi (Hartman) McKinney. Garry graduated from high school in Pennsylvania and served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. He had been a long haul trucker since 1969 and received the Million-Mile Award for safe, accident free driving. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and four-wheeling. He is survived by his girlfriend and co-driver, Judy Prevatt of St. Albans; his daughter, Betty Ann (McKinney) Henion of Boothwyn, Pa.; sister, Marion McQuown of Shick-shinney, Pa.; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Charles and wife, Jennette Cooley, of Dixmont. He was predeceased by his daughter, Margie Ann (McKinney) Calkins; son, Chucky McKinney; and sister, Roxanne. The family thanks Brewer Rehab and Living Center, CancerCare of Maine and Eastern Maine Medical Center for their care and compassion toward Garry during this difficult time. Garry’s last wish was to express to all, “Have A Merry Christmas!” Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, with the Rev. A. J. Walker officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until the time of services. Burial will be at Nutter Cemetery, Corinna.
