NANCY J. ERLAND

ELLSWORTH and MILBRIDGE – Nancy Jean Erland, 77, died Nov. 19, 2008, at a Milbridge health care facility. She was born Sept. 29, 1931, in Riverhead, N.Y., the daughter of Bernard S. and Phyllis M. (Vail) Balser. Nancy was a member of Pentecostal Light House, Town Hill; Mother’s Club; the former Nokomis Rebekah’s Lodge No. 73, Ellsworth; and then joined Rowena Lodge, Southwest Harbor. She enjoyed doing puzzle books and watching game shows. Nancy is survived by a son, Dennis Erland and wife, Lorraine, of Surry; a daughter, Debbie Rea of Ellsworth; one brother, Bernard Balser and wife, Barbara, of Michigan; and five grandchildren, Ericka, Denise, Stephen, Joseph and David. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Arthur; and a sister, Patricia Curven. Friends are invited to call noon-1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, with a funeral service held 1 p.m. Interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth.
