BANGOR – Phyllis L. Wardwell, 83, wife of the late Herbert C. Wardwell, died Nov. 21, 2008, at a Bangor nursing home after a long illness. She was born Dec. 17, 1924, in Dexter, the daughter of Edward and Aletha (Ellis) Stevens. Phyllis enjoyed caring for her family, cooking for family gatherings and crocheting for friends and family alike. She is survived by a son, Galen Wardwell and his wife, Mary, of Maynard, Mass.; three granddaughters, three great-grandsons; a brother, Edward Stevens and his wife, Patricia, of Bangor; a sister, Marion Soroka of Leominister, Mass.; several nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by Gloria Cote and her husband, Arthur, of Bangor. Friends may call noon until the time of service 1 p.m. Sunday at Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth, with the Rev. Ronald E. Libby officiating. Burial will be at North Newport Cemetery.
