ELLSWORTH, Maine — Nonprofit and public organizations seeking funding for projects that draw upon the strengths of the community and foster collaboration are invited to apply to the Maine Community Foundation’s community building grant program.
The Waldo County Committee requests proposals that build on the assets of the community. Applicants are encouraged to fashion partnerships between and among community groups to plan, advance and evaluate a proposed project, including involving people they hope to serve in the project’s design and implementation. New initiatives or projects are preferred over ongoing support.
The next deadline for applying for grants is Jan. 15, 2009. Applicants will be notified in late March. Application, guidelines and a list of recent grants may be found at www.mainecf.org. Grants are made from a permanent fund, restricted to nonprofits with 501(c)(3) tax status and public organizations serving Waldo County.
The Waldo County Fund is one of 11 county or regional funds established at the Maine Community Foundation that provide charitable resources to serve local communities in a county or region. An advisory committee of local residents reviews proposals and determines awards.
A statewide organization with offices in Ellsworth, Augusta and Portland, the Maine Community Foundation has been partnering with donors and nonprofits to strengthen Maine communities for 25 years. For more information, visit www.mainecf.org or call 1-877-700-6800.
