HOULTON – Evelyn M. Cole, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Nov. 22, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 28, 1916, at Hodgdon, the daughter of James and Lettie (Kelly) Merritt. Evelyn was a member of Hodgdon Baptist Church and for many years attended Houlton First Baptist Church with her husband and sons, and was a lifelong member of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. She devoted her entire life to her Lord, family and church. The love of her life was her sons and spending time with them and their families, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her five sons and their wives, James and Jean, Brian and Sally, Ralph and Sharon, Gary and Louise, and the Rev. David and Sherry; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by six very close sisters-in-law and numerous very special nieces and nephews. The family expresses it’s heart felt thanks to Dr. McFarlane and staff, staff at Madigan Estates and everyone at HRH Progressive Care, who made her feel like family. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday at Dunn Funeral Home, where services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at Houlton Evergreen Cemetery.
