DANFORTH – Ancel L. Gillis, 80, died Nov. 26, 2008, at a Houlton hospital. Born March 30, 1928, in Danforth, he was the son of William Gillis and Zena (Lee) Gillis McKay. Ancel was an Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the American Legion in Danforth. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret (Hanington) Gillis of Danforth; a son, Bradley Gillis of Levant; a daughter, Brenda Gillis of Danforth; a grandson, Dustin Gillis of Levant; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Maurice Gillis; and two sisters, Irene Gillis Cowan and Hilma Gillis Williams Lee. There will be no visiting hours or funeral. Arrangements are with Clay Funeral Home-Bartlett Chapel, 24 Houlton Road, Danforth.
