SURRY and BASS HARBOR Freda Y. Daugherty, 87, died Dec. 4, 2008, at an Ellsworth hospital. She was born Aug. 10, 1921, in Corea, the daughter of Morris and Geneva P. (Young) Young. Freda grew up in Bass Harbor and enjoyed living on the ocean in Surry. She was the wife of a disabled veteran of World War II, Jack A. Daugherty, who died in 1962. She is survived by her longtime companion, Donald Clark of Surry; two sons, Richard and wife, Denise, of Bass Harbor and Jack and Ginny of Chandler, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Jaime, Kelly, Sean and Bryan; four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. The love of her life was dancing with Donald. For many years they could be seen dancing at local clubs and gatherings. Friends are invited to call 4-6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at Corea Cemetery.
