BANGOR – Douglas Edward Greene, 61, of Exeter, N.H., and Rockland peacefully passed this life Dec. 6, 2008, at a Bangor hospital after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born June 22, 1947. Doug was a native of Needham, Mass., and during the course of his life lived in Boca Raton, Fla., Scituate, Mass., and Exeter, N.H. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea and was a graduate of the University of Maine. Doug was employed by Ocean Hospitalities, Inc., and worked with the Walsh family of Bangor for 40 years. Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Shelia (Maynard) Greene of Exeter, N.H., and Rockland; their sons, Robert J. Greene and his wife, Brittany, of Dover, N.H., and Edward O. Greene and a daughter, Hilary Greene, both of Portsmouth, N.H.; grandson, Aiden Douglas Greene; brothers, Abbott Greene, Robert L. Greene and his wife, Pam, and John Poole; and sisters, Esther Blais and Hillary Greene. The Greene family extends their thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the third floor at Eastern Maine Medical Center, who provided compassionate care and assistance to Doug and his family. Private family services will be held in Bangor. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 25 3rd St., Dover, N.H., with a reception afterward at the Marriott Wentworth by the Sea, New Castle, N.H.
