BROOKS – Bradley A. Downs, 49, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 16, 2008. He was born Oct. 17, 1959, in Bangor, the son of Donald E. Downs and Joan (Downs) Tenney. Brad was a graduate of Hampden Academy, Class of 1978, as well as a graduate of Northeast Tractor Trailer School, Brunswick. Brad worked as a truck driver for Grant’s Dairy, Hughes Brothers, Winter Windows and most recently for Calamity Dave’s, but what he most enjoyed was working as a self-employed carpenter with his son, Don. He was well known as an articulate finish carpenter, something he took great pride in. Brad enjoyed spending time with Robyn, working in their gardens at their home, as well as raising livestock. Brad had always been a farmer at heart and took great pride in his John Deere tractor. He was a member of Marsh River Masonic Lodge No. 102 of Brooks. Brad will be remembered as a loving Dad, soul mate to Robyn, and as a true family man and friend. Brad is survived by his children, Miranda Downs and boyfriend, Dexter Ali, of Plantation, Fla., and Donald Downs of Bangor; his mother, Joan Tenney of Hampden; his soul mate, Robyn Harwood of Brooks; sister, Barbara Moody and husband, Stephen, of Monroe; brother, Lance Downs and wife, Barbara, of Brooks; his aunt, Margaret Wildes of Brooks; nieces and nephews, Melissa Moody, Heather Moody, Ashley Downs and Justin Downs; a great-niece, Sabree Thomas; the mother of his children, Karen Greatorex of Monroe; several cousins; and his faithful canine companions, Maggie Mae and Sable Mable. Brad was predeceased by his father, Donald Downs; infant daughter, Angela Downs; stepfather, Albert Tenney; grandmother, Mary Parker; an uncle, Joseph Wildes; and an aunt, Suzanne Allgaier. Family and friends may visit 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A funeral service to honor Brad’s life will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at First Congregational Church of Brooks, U.C.C., with the Revs. Art and Suzie Gowie officiating.
