PORTLAND – Pamela Sue Richards, 49, died unexpectedly Dec. 19, 2008, at Maine Medical Center. She was born in Bangor, daughter of David and Joyce Hawes Richards. Her family moved to Portland when she was 4 years old, where she lived the remainder of her life. She attended Portland schools and worked at Portland Country Club for the past 11 years. Pam will be remembered as a beauty that never seemed to age, her pretty brown eyes sparkled above a radiant smile, exuding an effervescent, youthful glow. With a love of the latest in fashion, which she wore beautifully; and new music, while she still loved the old music, neither could ever be played too loud. No matter your age, in a moment, she put you at ease, she always had time to listen with a kind and caring word or quick with a laugh. Somehow she just knew it would be just what you needed. She touched so many people’s lives this way, and all of this is what drew people to her. Her family and closest of friends were the truly blessed ones though, it was those of us that saw the depth of her compassion, while she raised her two daughters loving them immeasurably, she also helped raise another child, Jessica and loved her no differently. She cherished her Ma and Pa, had an unbreakable bond with her sisters and treasured her brother, while she adored her two grandchildren; they were the light of her life. In addition to her parents of Scarborough, she is survived by her daughter, Vanessa Richards of Massachusetts and her two children, Maleyah and Kai; daughter, Chelsea Dauphin of Portland; father of Chelsea and lifelong companion, Thomas Dauphin; her brother, David Richards and companion, Janey Denehy, of Portland; sister, Tammy Richards and family, Joe O’Brien and their two children, Joey and Bella, of Portland; sister, Patty Galope her two children, Miles and Paris, of Portland; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland, with funeral services held 1 p.m. A reception will be after the funeral service at Portland Country Club. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be to the Migraine Research Foundation, 300 East 75th St., New York, NY 10021.
