NEW LIMERICK – Frederick L. Donahue passed away Dec. 17, 2008, at Houlton Regional Hospital. He was born Jan. 26, 1936, in New Limerick, to the late Leland and Ethel (Hand) Donahue. Fred worked for Sargent Construction Co., for more than 25 years, operating a front-end loader. In recent years, he enjoyed tending his garden, working in his yard and spending time with his family. Fred will be sadly missed by his wife, Chelvadean “Shelly” Donahue; his son, Leland Donahue of New Limerick; and his daughter, Cheryl Callnan and her husband, Jim, of Ellsworth. Fred was a wonderful grampy and he will be fondly remembered by his two grandchildren, Josh and Alyssa Callnan. Also surviving are Fred’s two special sisters, his twin, Fern Spurlin and her husband, Phillip, of Biloxi, Miss., and Judith Cormier and her husband, Roger, of Shediac Cape, New Brunswick; two brothers, Linwood Donahue and his wife, Barbara, of Fredericksburg, Va., and Kenneth Donahue and his wife, Sherie, of Chesapeake, Va.; nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by his brother, Robert “Bob” Donahue of Chicago, Ill. Interment will be at New Limerick Cemetery and a graveside memorial service will be held next summer.
