STOW, Ohio, and LUBEC – Carol Ann Pike Strickland passed away Dec. 23, 2008, in Akron, Ohio, after a brief illness. She was born March 12, 1939, the second child of Ann C. Pike and Alger W. Pike of Lubec. A graduate of Oak Grove School, Vassalboro, Carol attended Endicott Junior College, Beverly, Mass. She worked for many years for the airline industry while living in Atlanta and moved to Stow, Ohio, after her marriage to James Strickland. She was employed by Marc’s Pharmacy, Stow, Ohio. In her youth, Carol was an avid and skilled horsewoman. In more recent years, she was devoted to her family and to her multiple pet animals. Carol was predeceased by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her older brother, Jacob Pike of Bridgewater, Mass.; her younger sister, Penelope Pike Lemon of Galveston, Texas, and Lubec; and a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Congregational Christian Church of Lubec, Lubec Public Library or a charity of choice.
