ORLAND – Owen “Buddy” Lyford Gray Jr., 64, passed away in his sleep on Christmas day, Dec. 25, 2008. Born June 8, 1944, he was the son of Owen Lyford Gray Sr. and Clara Mae (Henderson) Gray. Buddy served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, earning several military medals, as well as two Purple Hearts. Buddy was a loving husband, father, brother and a wonderful papa to all his grandchildren, whom he loved so much. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing, and he was member of Bucksport Rod and Gun Club. Buddy was loved by and will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 32 years, Sherry (Littlefield) Gray; one son, Bruce Gray and his wife, Gale; two daughters, Laurie McAllian and husband, Michael, and Lynnette Libby and husband, Dean; grandchildren, Nichole (Gray) Bowden and husband, Nicholas, Sheena (Soper) Cottle and husband, Willy, David Soper, Amanda Saunders-McAllian and fianc?e, Brandon Hutchins, Joseph Soper and James McAllian; brothers, Robert Gray and wife, Kathy, Arthur Gray and wife, Edye, and Kenneth Gray and wife, Sheila; as well as special brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many close personal friends. He was predeceased by his parents. Family and friends will gather for visitation 5 p.m. until the time of service 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Peter Remick. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gray Family, 109 Gilpin Road, Orland, ME 04472.
