CARIBOU – Almond G. Babin, 69, died unexpectedly Dec. 16, 2008, in Bangor. He was born July 26, 1939, at home on the family farm on the Hardison Road, Caribou, to Charles and Eva (Martin) Babin. Almond was a lifelong Caribou resident prior to moving to Fort Fairfield several years ago and was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Al enjoyed gardening and took great pride in his gardens. He also loved to cook, as well as spend time outdoors, especially ice fishing. He is survived by his brothers, Frank Babin and his wife, Rita, of Boxford, Mass., Roland Babin and his wife, Linde, of Caribou and Donald Babin of East Plantation; a sister, Phillis Corrow of Goldsboro, N.C.; several nieces and nephews. Almond will also be sadly missed by his longtime companion, Arthur Wilcox of Fort Fairfield. Mr. Babin was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Wilmer, Freeland and Charles Babin Jr.; and two sisters, Mary Gahagan and Virginia Anderson.
