WELLS and ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – Laurence C. Springer Sr., 76, husband of Helen Springer, passed away peacefully Jan. 6, 2009, at Florida Hospital, Zephyrhills. He was born June 17, 1932, in St. Albans, son of Delmont and Jennie (Seekins) Springer. Laurence graduated from Maine Central Institute, Pittsfield, in 1951 and the University of Maine in 1957. He also served in the U.S. Army. He worked for the state of Maine as a civil engineer and retired as vice president from Tilcon in 1988. He was a member of Corinthian Lodge No. 95 AF & AM of Hartland, Kora Temple Shrine and Evening Star Chapter. Laurence is survived by his wife of 55 years; son, Larry Springer Jr. and wife, Debbie; daughters, Carolyn Stratos and husband, Christo, and Nancy Needham and husband, Craig; grandchildren, Weston and wife, Audra, and their three children, Tyson, Kaden and Natayla Springer, Brandon Springer and wife, Brianne and daughter, Ariella, Jennie Hilton and Kristin Caron; sisters, Hazel Littlefield and husband, Ed, Beatrice Littlefield and husband, Elmer, and Rita Gordon and husband, Daryl; brothers, Dale Springer and wife, Dawn, Don Springer and wife, Joanne, and Dean Springer and wife, Rosemary; several nieces and nephews. Laurence was predeceased by George, Raymond and James Springer. A memorial service was held at Whitfield Funeral Home, Zephyrhills, Fla. There will be memorial services in the spring in North Berwick, as well as a Masonic service at Maloon Cemetery, St. Albans.
