BANGOR – Iver “Red” B. Iverson, 85, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at his home. He was born Aug. 22, 1923, in Big Springs, Texas, the son of Alfred and Eula (Mulligan) Iverson. Red loved his time spent volunteering for Samaritan Inc. He was a proud World War II veteran and was present for the Japanese invasion of Pearl Harbor. Red enjoyed marching with his fellow World War II veterans during the annual parades. He is survived by his children, John Iverson of New York, Karen and her husband, Rick Meyers, of Santa Cruz, Calif., Kathy and her husband, Dennis McMorris, of Scotts Valley, Calif., Marie and her husband, Peter Eliades, of Petaluma, Calif., Kristin and her husband, Jonathan Camp, of Jaffrey, N.H., Kimberly and her husband, Mike Wood, of Glenburn, Bethany and her husband, Kim Hamm, of Brewer, Daniel and his wife, Jill Iverson, of Levant, and Douglas and his wife, Roberta Iverson, of Mattawamkeag; grandchildren, Tyler, Stacy, Jeffrey, Wesley, Sienna, Erin M., Lia, George, Alexander, Amity, Victoria, Timothy, Evan, Justin, Brittany, Blair, Erin I., Jason and C.J., great-grandchildren, Ava and Elena; brother, Barley Gilbert Iverson of San Angelo, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Edna Iverson of Longview, Texas. In addition to his parents, Red was predeceased by his brothers, John and Conrad Iverson; a sister, Alice Iverson; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Iverson. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, with the Rev. Gregory DuBois, pastor of Glenburn Evangelical Covenant Church, officiating.
