GRAY, Maine — Authorities in Maine say the former fiance of a slain nursing student from Alfred has been indicted for her murder.
Deputy Attorney General William Stokes said the York County grand jury handed up the indictment against Jason Twardus, who was engaged to 30-year-old Kelly Gorham two months before she disappeared in August 2007.
Gorham’s body was found a month later in a grave on prop-erty owned by Twardus’ father in Stewartstown, N.H., near the Canadian border.
Jason Twardus’ indictment was impounded until New Hampshire State Police arrested him Friday afternoon in Portsmouth, N.H.
