ORLAND – Linwood C. Robshaw, 89, died Jan. 13, 2009, at Blue Hill Hospital. He was born March 13, 1919, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Chandler and Irene (Belmain) Robshaw. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II. Linwood retired from St. Regis Paper Co., Bucksport, after 37 years of service. He was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Bucksport, where he was a member of Knights of Columbus. Linwood was a former fire chief and a 56-year member of Orland Fire Department, a member of American Legion Post No. 93 of Bucksport, Bucksmills Rod and Gun Club, Orland Historical Society and Oak Grove Cemetery Association, where he once served as sexton. Linwood is survived by his five children, Jeffrey Robshaw and his wife, Sandra, of Bucksport, Mary Hauger and her husband, Geoffrey, Anne Leclerc and her husband, Daniel, Peter Robshaw and his wife, Gail, all of Orland, and Martha Accola and her husband, Stephen, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Joshua Smith, Gary Hauger, Katherine Smith, Samantha Fairfield, Margaret Hanscom, Stephen Accola, Daniel Accola, Racheal Robshaw, Sara Robshaw and Mark Accola; eight great-grandchildren, Delaney Fairfield, Madelyn Fairfield, Emily Hanscom, Ethan Leclerc, Isabella Fairfield, Allison Hanscom, Remington Grindle and Greggory Hauger; one brother, Dr. John Robshaw of Stratham, N.H.; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Robshaw of Orland and Marguerite Lyons of Pelham, N.H.; several nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife of 64 years, Dorothy (McAvoy) Robshaw, June 6, 2008; infant daughter, Linda Robshaw; and two brothers, Vaughn Robshaw and Ralph Robshaw. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Bucksport, with Father James Plourde officiating. Spring interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Orland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church or the charity of your choice.
