CALAIS – Sallee Ann McShane, 72, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, at Calais Regional Hospital. Sallee was born Sept. 14, 1936, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, the daughter of Frederick and Margaret (Redding) Talbot. She graduated from Milltown High School, Milltown, New Brunswick, and was employed as a nurse’s assistant for Calais Regional Hospital for more than 30 years. Sallee was a faithful member of Calais United Methodist Church, where she was the organist and a member of United Methodist Women. She served on the board of directors for Calais Methodist Homes, was a member of Sweet Adelines and volunteered as a caregiver with hospice. Sallee’s love for animals led her to rescue many in need. She enjoyed playing the organ, gardening, crafts, cooking, bird watching and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Sallee was predeceased by her husband, Paul McShane; and a daughter, Ann Marie Speedy. Surviving are her mother, Margaret Talbot of Rockland; her son, Robert McShane of Calais; her daughter, Paula McShane of Calais; son-in-law, Butch Speedy of St. Stephen, New Brunswick; two brothers, Ted Talbot and wife, Shirley, of Owls Head and Robert Talbot and wife, Jo, of Rockland; four grandchildren, Brad and Jason Speedy of St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Tristan Greenlaw of Fredericton, New Brunswick and Jackson Greenlaw of Calais; many nieces and nephews; her canine companion, Austin; and her two feline companions, Jasper and Junior. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Calais United Methodist Church, 849 Main St., Calais, where a celebration of Sallee’s life will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday.
