VAN BUREN – Claude R. Martin, 67, died Jan. 18, 2009, at his residence. He was born June 2, 1941, in Van Buren, the son of Ernest and Cecile (Deschaines) Martin. Claude worked as a tree surgeon in Connecticut, and was also employed as a truck driver and farm worker for various area farmers after returning to Van Buren. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Pauline (Duprey) Martin of Van Buren; one daughter, Cheryl Martin of Dedham; one son, Dennis Martin and his wife, Linda, of St. Leonard, New Brunswick; four grandchildren, Pier-Luc, Samantha and Rebecca Martin, all of St. Leonard, New Brunswick, and Kelsey Cyr of Madawaska; a special godchild, Denise Kniss; one brother, Robert Martin and his wife, Pauline, of Grand Isle; and seven sisters, Rose Charette and her husband, John, of Van Buren, Priscilla Carrier and her husband, Dick, of Florida, Rena Lavoie and her husband, Raymond, of Connecticut, Edna Nadeau and her husband, Raymond, of Sabattus, Doreen Martin and her longtime companion, Fern Gendreau, of Grand Isle, Rachel Parent and her husband, Conrad, of St. Anne, New Brunswick, and Judy Grivois and her husband, Norman, of Lewiston. There will be no visiting hours. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Spring interment will be at Grande Riviere Cemetery.
