MADAWASKA and Maryland – Jeannette M. Dufour, 90, a longtime Madawaska resident, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at Stella Maris Hospice, Timonium, Md. She was born April 21, 1918, in Canada, the daughter of Felix and Mary (Picard) Gagnon. She had resided at The Star of the Sea for the last four years. At the time of her death, she was surrounded by many of the staff who had cared for her since her admission. Mrs. Dufour was the wife of Claude J. Dufour, who predeceased her in 2002. She is survived by one son, David Dufour of Los Angeles, his wife, Wendy and their children, Gaby and Ben. She also leaves behind a daughter, Lorraine and her husband, Dr. Thomas Fioretti, of Baltimore and Bethany Beach, Del., and Lorraine’s children, Michael and Jilliane Gurski. She leaves behind a number of relatives. Mrs. Dufour was predeceased by three brothers, Louis Gagnon, Ludger “Pit” Gagnon and Dr. Robert Gagnon. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at Daigle Funeral Home. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
