VAN BUREN – Therese M. St. Pierre, 82, died Jan. 23, 2009, at a Van Buren health care facility, after a long period of declining health. She was born Feb. 9, 1927, in Grand Isle, the daughter of Camille and Irene (Daigle) Lausier Sr. She graduated from high school in the Van Buren Adult Education program in 1972. Therese was active in her community, especially in her parish, St. Remi, Keegan, until its merger with St. Bruno, Van Buren. She was a member of St. Remi Choir and was a former parish council member. She and her husband operated the Bingo fundraisers in the parish for many years. She was also a member of the Columbiettes of St. Peter Chanel Parish. Therese is survived by one son, Philip St. Pierre of Willits, Calif.; four daughters, Arleen Cyr of Van Buren, Joan Doucette and her husband, Roy, of Hamlin, Phyllis Toothaker and her husband, James, of Hampden and Charlene Gould of Ray City, Ga.; seven brothers, Emilien Lausier, Camille Lausier Jr., Reginald Lausier and Leo Lausier, all of Van Buren, Harold Lausier of Connor, Edmond Lausier of Meriden, Conn., and Clifford Lausier of Bristol, Conn.; four sisters, Anita Bouchard, Joan Gagnon and Claudette Pelletier, all of Van Buren and Mildred Roy of Sheffield, Vt.; 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Alcide St. Pierre in 2001. There will be no visiting hours. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church.
