State Police arrested a Cumberland County deputy late Thursday night in Portland and charged him with operating under the influence and driving to endanger.
The arrest of Charles Ryder, 36, of Falmouth followed several calls State Police received of a SUV traveling south in the northbound lanes of Interstate 295 between Falmouth and Portland. Ryder’s Ford Explorer was pulled over by State Trooper Scott Duff near the Franklin Arterial, about 11:20 p.m.
Ryder was taken to the Cumberland County Jail, where he works as a sergeant in the corrections division. His court date is not expected before March.
