BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – Bernice Eunice Chessa, wife of Walter Chessa I, died Jan. 26, 2009, in Brooksville, Fla. Bernice was born Oct. 23, 1926, in McAdam, New Brunswick, daughter of the late Harry Walter Gillies and Carrie Elizabeth Grass of McAdam, New Brunswick. She is survived by two sons, Gary Chessa of Brewer and Walt Chessa II of Charleston, S.C.; one daughter, Marilyn Sprague of Lampe, Mo.; a sister, Beatrice Johnson of Revelstoke, British Columbia; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Walt Chessa of Old Town; son, Larry Chessa; and daughter, Diane Bowden. Visitation will be held 1 p.m. Jan. 31 at Turner’s Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel, with funeral services to be held after. Interment will be at Bushnell Florida National Cemetery.
