ORONO, Maine — Six-foot-2 center Laura Franceski dominated the paint Saturday afternoon, scoring 22 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and blocking eight shots to power Binghamton University to a 62-49 America East women’s basketball victory over the University of Maine at Alfond Arena.

Coach Cindy Blodgett’s Black Bears dropped to 2-18, 0-7 in conference play, while losing their 14th consecutive game.

The Bearcats (9-11, 4-3 AE) went on a 17-2 scoring run, including seven points from Franceski, in the second half to turn a five-point lead into a 20-point advantage (54-34) with 7:41 remaining.

Viive Regbane added eight points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals for Binghamton.

Kristin Baker of Bingham led the UMaine offense with 14 points, while Brittany Boser contributed 11 points and five rebounds and Katia Bratishko added 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
