ASHLAND, Maine — Police in Ashland were still on the lookout Tuesday for whoever broke into the Ashland Food Mart and made off with a significant amount of money on Saturday night or early Sunday morning.
“We are still looking into it,” Cyr Martin, the chief of the Ashland Police Department, said Tuesday. “We are asking anyone with any information to call us.”
According to Martin, one or more people broke into the Ashland Food Mart on Route 163 by entering through the loading dock. The perpetrator then tore apart a safe and made off with what Martin would only say was a large amount of cash.
No other damage was done to the store.
Police are asking anyone who might have seen any suspicious activity in the area between midnight and 8 a.m. Sunday to call the department at 435-6626.
