EDDINGTON – Herbert R. Young, 81, died Feb. 4, 2009, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. He was born Sept. 5, 1927, in Bar Harbor, the son of Alex and Jenny Young. Herbert was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, serving in Italy and Europe. He worked at Pratt & Whitney, Webber Oil and as a shipmate on a tug boat. He loved the great outdoors, fishing, hunting and camping. He is survived by four sons, James and his wife, Darlene Young, of Eddington, Wayne and his wife, Robin Young, of Holden, Roger and his wife, Amber Young, of Charleston and Alfred Young of Bucksport; three daughters, Debbie Kenney and her husband, John, of Bucksport, Altie and Joy; one sister, Margie Rank of Randolph; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Vernie; his best friend, Owen Gray; and his three dogs, Lady, Spot and Kizmo. At Herbert’s request there will be no services.
