BREWER – Joseph Ernie Sullivan, 82, died peacefully and unexpectedly Feb. 7, 2009, at his home. He was born Nov. 7, 1926, in South Brewer, son of Stephen and Ann (Gallagher) Sullivan. Joe graduated from John Bapst High School, Bangor, Class of 1944. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II. Joe then graduated from the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Science degree and then a two-year degree in electronics. He re-enlisted in the Navy, serving during the Korean War. After discharge, he worked for a television dealer and later started his own business. In 1965, he went to work for WABI-TV as an engineer, retiring in 1991. Joe is survived by three daughters, Carol White of Florida, Connie and her husband, Richard Swan, of Bradley, and Cindy and her husband, David Gould, of York Beach; his two beloved grandsons, Jason and Adam Gould; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Wilma (Leavitt) Sullivan. Dad was loved very much and will be missed dearly. He will always be with us in our hearts. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, Brewer. Spring interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer.
